Editorial & Peer Review Process
The editorial and peer review process at Scholarnex journals is a cornerstone of our commitment to academic excellence. It ensures the credibility, integrity, and scholarly value of every article we publish. Our process adheres to international ethical standards and is designed to promote transparency, fairness, and quality in academic publishing.
Editorial Oversight
The Editor-in-Chief (EIC) holds full responsibility for overseeing the peer review process. All submitted manuscripts are initially screened by the EIC or an assigned editorial staff member for compliance with the journal’s scope, formatting, and ethical standards. Eligible submissions are then assigned to Associate Editors or members of the Editorial Board based on the manuscript’s subject area.
Final decisions on acceptance, revision, or rejection are made by the Editor-in-Chief, taking into careful consideration the reviewers’ reports and recommendations.
Reviewer Selection
Reviewers are selected for their subject expertise, academic qualifications, and experience in research and publishing. Each reviewer is expected to provide an impartial, constructive, and timely evaluation of the manuscript. Efforts are made to match manuscripts with reviewers who possess specific knowledge relevant to the submission.
All reviewers must:
- Have a proven academic or professional background in the subject area.
- Be free from conflicts of interest regarding the manuscript or authors.
- Commit to ethical conduct and timely review.
Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers are expected to:
- Evaluate submissions objectively and confidentially, without personal or professional bias.
- Assess the originality, clarity, validity, significance, methodology, and adherence to ethical research standards.
- Offer constructive feedback, highlighting strengths and areas needing improvement.
- Provide clear recommendations: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject.
- Disclose any conflicts of interest that may affect their judgment or impartiality.
Review Procedure and Decision Making
- Initial Screening: Manuscripts are screened by the Editor-in-Chief for scope and quality.
- Reviewer Assignment: At least two qualified reviewers are assigned in a double-blind review process.
- Review Period: Reviewers are typically given 1 – 2 weeks to complete their assessments. Extensions may be granted on request.
- Evaluation: Reviews are submitted through the Scholarnex Journal Management System.
- Editorial Decision: The Editor-in-Chief reviews all feedback and issues one of the following decisions:
- Accept – No or minor revisions required.
- Revise and Resubmit – Substantive changes needed; resubmission invited.
- Reject – Manuscript does not meet the journal’s standards.
Author Notification
Authors are notified promptly of the editorial decision. When revisions are required, detailed reviewer comments and guidance will be provided. Authors are given a specific deadline to submit their revised manuscript along with a response letter outlining how reviewer comments were addressed.
Confidentiality
The entire peer review process is strictly confidential. Manuscripts are not shared beyond those directly involved in the review process. Reviewers must not use or disclose manuscript content prior to publication.
Conflict of Interest
All parties involved such editors, reviewers, and authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest, including:
- Personal or professional relationships
- Financial interests
- Institutional affiliations
Any conflict that could affect objectivity must be declared in writing.
Appeals Process
Authors may appeal editorial decisions if they believe an error or unfair treatment occurred during the review. Appeals must be submitted in writing to the Editor-in-Chief, clearly outlining the basis of the appeal. The editorial team will review the case and respond accordingly. All appeals are handled with neutrality and fairness.
